Repeat prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions (not by telephone please: to reduce errors)

Repeat prescriptions may be obtained by: adding content

  • Returning your repeat list (with the items you want ticked) to the surgery. If you have lost this, we can print another for you, or you can write down what you require.

  • Speaking to our pharmacist.

  • By posting a request – enclosing a SAE if you require the prescription to be returned to you.

  • Online via the link above. New users are required to complete a simple registration.

Repeat prescriptions are not generated automatically. You must reorder your medication when you are running low. Requests take two-three working days to process.

If you would like a medicine added to your repeat list, you must speak with or write a request for a doctor as authorisation is required. You can email us downton.surgery@nhs.net

For safety reasons we do not accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions.

Dispensing

As we are a rural practice, we may be able to dispense your medication. This will depend on where you live as we are not allowed to dispense for patients who live within a mile of Downton Day Lewis pharmacy. Please ask when you register.

Dispensing patients can collect their medication from the window to the right of the front doors.

Please note the dispensary is closed between 13:00 and 14:00. They open at 08h30 and close at 18h00 on weekdays.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication need a clinician to review these at least once a year. You may be called in or telephoned if we need more information to safely complete these. These safety notifications will appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow TWO full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
